Agent Verification Engine - RPA Builder
Use the SeekBytes Desktop app on Windows to upload process recordings, talk to Skill Engine, and run verified browser steps on your own computer.
SeekBytes Desktop is the Windows app your team installs on a PC when you want SeekBytes close to where work happens — not only in the browser. Your SeekBytes contact provides the installer; you do not need to build or configure software yourself.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC
- Internet access to SeekBytes (usually seekbytes.com)
- A SeekBytes organization account (or an invite from your admin)
- The Desktop app package from your SeekBytes or partner contact
How access works (in plain language)
Desktop uses two pieces of access information. You set them once; after that, day-to-day use is mostly Video, Chat, and Runner.
| What | Why it matters | Where you enter it |
|---|---|---|
| API key | Shows SeekBytes that your organization is allowed to use the platform from this PC | Settings → API key |
| Domain connection | Links Video and Chat to your company’s workspace in Skill Engine | Settings → Sync domain credentials (one click — filled in for you) |
You do not sign into Video with a separate username and password. After you paste the API key and sync once, Video and Chat use that connection automatically.
First-time setup (about 10 minutes)
1. Create or join your organization
Do this once for your company (or skip ahead if you already have access).
- Open Register on the SeekBytes website.
- Enter your organization name, your name, work email, and a strong password.
- Confirm the email SeekBytes sends you (check spam if it is missing).
- Sign in at Login. You will open the admin portal (Control Tower).
The person who registers is typically an organization Admin and can create API keys for Desktop users. If someone already invited you, ask them for a key instead of registering again.
2. Create an API key for this PC
- In the admin portal, open Operate → API keys.
- Choose Generate New Key and give it a clear name (for example, “Front desk PC” or “Jane’s laptop”).
- Unless your admin says otherwise, leave the project scope as All projects.
- Generate the key and copy the full key right away. After you close the window, SeekBytes only shows a short preview — not the full secret again.
- Keep the key somewhere safe (a password manager is ideal). Treat it like a password.
If you lose the key later, open API keys again, choose Rotate (or create a new key), copy the new value once, and paste it into Desktop Settings.
3. Install Desktop and connect
- Put the SeekBytes Desktop app in a simple folder on the PC (for example,
C:\SeekBytes\) and open it. - Go to the Settings tab.
- Leave the site address as
https://seekbytes.comunless your SeekBytes contact gave you a different address. - Paste your API key → click Save settings.
- Click Sync domain credentials. When it succeeds, status should look ready for Video and Chat.
If Sync does not succeed, double-check the API key, confirm your email was verified, and ask your admin that your organization is fully set up on SeekBytes. Fix that before uploading videos or chatting.
4. Optional: turn on local browser automation (Runner)
Only needed if this PC should run browser steps for verification or RPA-style Skills.
- Open the Runner tab.
- Click Install (needs internet the first time — the app downloads what it needs).
- Register this PC with a friendly name so SeekBytes can find it.
- Start the worker when you want this machine to accept jobs.
Day-to-day use
Video
- Confirm Settings shows you are connected (Ready).
- Choose a recording (for example an
.mp4file) and upload it. - Wait while SeekBytes processes it — you can refresh the list to see progress.
- When a recording is ready, select it and download the manual.
Chat
Open Chat, start a conversation, and send a message to Skill Engine. If a reply should drive automation on this PC, keep Runner registered and started. Your SeekBytes success contact can share the exact phrasing your team uses for local runs.
Runner
| Control | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Install | Prepares this PC to run browser steps |
| Register | Makes this PC visible to SeekBytes as an available runner |
| Start / stop | When started, this PC can pick up and run jobs |
| Hide browser window | On = runs in the background; off = you can watch the browser while it works |
Helpful habits
- If you move Desktop to another folder or PC, move the entire app folder — not only the main program file.
- Changing your website password usually does not break Desktop. If your admin refreshes domain access on SeekBytes, click Sync domain credentials again in Settings.
- If Video says credentials are missing, open Settings and Sync once more.
- If everything says authentication failed, check the API key and the site address first.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to try |
|---|---|
| Cannot sign in after registering | Confirm the email link first; check spam |
| Lost the API key (only a short preview left) | Admin → API keys → Rotate or create a new key; copy once into Desktop |
| Video asks you to sync | Settings → Sync domain credentials; ask admin if your org is fully activated |
| Chat cannot complete write actions | Sync again in Settings |
| Runner shows “Not ready” | Install → Register → Start; confirm the API key is still valid |
| Windows security blocks the app after Install | Allow the SeekBytes folder when Windows asks, or ask IT to approve it |
| Upload rejected | Use a normal video file (for example .mp4), not an image |
| App will not start or looks incomplete | Ask your SeekBytes contact for a fresh Desktop package — do not mix partial files from different downloads |
Quick checklist
Use this when setting up a new PC for your team.
- Register (or get invited) → confirm email → open admin
- Create an API key and copy it once
- Install Desktop from your SeekBytes package
- Settings: site address + API key → Save → Sync
- Video: upload a short test recording
- Chat: send a test message
- (Optional) Runner: Install → Register → Start
That is all most teams need for everyday use. If you need help with packaging, deployment policy, or advanced Runner setup, your SeekBytes success or partner contact can walk you through it.
